Carbon dioxide flow stations (CO2)
GFOG
Permanent station of CO2 flow, installed in the South flank of the Volcano of Fogo, constitutes a prototype of the company West Systems S.r.l. and it makes measurements through the accumulation chamber. This station also records information on various environmental parameters in order to understand the influence of these parameters on the variations in CO2 flux. The measurements of the various parameters are made with an hourly frecuency, with the data sent daily through a GSM telemetry system (Global System for Mobile Communications) for the CIVISA/IVAR facilities at the University of Azores, in Ponta Delgada.
GFUR
Permanent station of CO2 flow installed inside the boiler of the Furnas volcano, is a prototype of the company West Systems S.r.l. and it makes measurements through the accumulation chamber. This station also records information on various environmental parameters to understand the influence of these parameters on the variations in CO2 flux. The measurements of the various parameters are made with an hourly frequency, with the data sent daily through a GSM telemetry system (Global System for Mobile Communications) for the CIVISA/IVAR facilities at University of Azores, in Ponta Delgada.
Radon concentration station (222Rn)
RADFUR
Permanent concentration station of 222Rn, installed in a building located inside the caldera of the Furnas volcano and containing a Radon Scout Plus detector, from the company Sarad. This equipment measures the concentration of 222Rn by diffusion, in integrated intervals of 60 minutes, with the data downloaded in situ once a month. This equipment also has sensors that allow measuring several environmental parameters in order to understand the influence of these parameters on the concentration variations of 222Rn.
